I've made it work. Exce the changes I mentioned, the steps are necessary:
• enable camera from BIOS
• enable kernel uvcvideo module and load it from init
The tested Eee PC models are 701 and 1000. However, on 1000, taking snapshot doesn't work well. The picture is garbage (only black and green lines). But on 701 it's fine. The difference is 701 has 30M webcam, but on 1000 it's 130M.
